- The Undergraduate Student Paper Award established in memory of Mary E. Brown, a former Canadian member of the Association and educator
- The Graduate Paper Award, established in memory of Richard Kalish.
- The Cross Cultural Award, an award that encourages graduate and undergraduate students to submit papers dealing with cross-cultural and individual differences in dying and death.
In order to submit a paper for consideration, the writer must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student. Each award consists of $100 and a certificate of recognition, which will be awarded at the 2011 Annual Conference in Miami, Florida, USA. Winners will be reimbursed for their travel expenses up to $200 and their conference registration fee will be waived. Winners are also invited to submit abstracts of their papers to The Forum Newsletter and to present winning papers as poster presentations during the conference.
Student papers that reflect diversity of culture as well as philosophical, clinical and educational approaches to dying, death, and bereavement are especially welcomed.
