The Certification Exam

The next exam will be offered Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010
Application Deadline: Sept. 27, 2010

The certification exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will have three hours to complete the exam. All questions are based on the CT Content Outline and are documented to one of the Primary Texts and Specific Articles.

The primary texts that were chosen are:

  • Death and Dying Life and Living. Charles A. Corr, Clyde M. Nabe, Donna M. Corr, 6th Edition 2009, Wadsworth, Thomson Learning Publishing Co., ISBN-13: 978-0-495-50646-1 ISBN-10: 0-495-50646-X

  • The Last Dance: Encountering Death and Dying. Lynne Ann DeSpelder and Albert Lee Strickland, 8th Edition 2009, McGraw Hill, ISBN #0072920963 Additional study material available on The Last Dance’s website: http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com

  • Handbook of Thanatology : The Essential Body of Knowledge for the Study of Death, Dying and Bereavement. David E. Balk, Carol Wogrin, Gordon Thornton, and David K. Meagher (editors), 2007, Routledge.
